Massachusetts Issues 6th Annual MassJazz Travel Guide
For Jazz Lovers and Music Lovers Alike, It’s All Here in Massachusetts
(Boston) - The Massachusetts Office of Travel & Tourism has issued the 6th annual MassJazz Travel Guide, a magazine highlighting jazz festivals, concerts, nightclubs, college courses and related jazz activities taking place in Massachusetts through spring 2015.
The 44-page Guide is available for free at visitor kiosks around the state and at jazz clubs, hotels, restaurants and college campuses as well as online.
“Massachusetts’ robust jazz scene touches every part of the Commonwealth,” says Betsy Wall, executive director of Mass Office of Travel & Tourism. “Its vibrancy adds to the distinctive performing arts scene here in Massachusetts that offers rich cultural programming all year round.”
The Guide lists hundreds of jazz events taking place from July 2014 through April 2015, plus information on jazz organizations, college study programs, radio stations, tourism outlets and more.
“Jazz has become an international language, as evidenced by the number of students from around the globe studying jazz in Massachusetts, and by the number of foreign visitors interested in our state’s robust jazz scene,” says Michael Quinlin, director of the Commonwealth Marketing Office.
Profiled this year are Panos Panay, head of Berklee’s Institute for Creative Entrepreneurship; Sue Auclair, premier music publicist; drummers Bart Weisman and Stanley Swann; and two international students studying in Boston - Xiongguan Zhang from China and Utar Artun from Turkey. Other stories feature JazzBoston activities and radio personalities Chris Lydon and Jose Masso.
MassJazz was launched in 2009 by the Massachusetts Office of Travel & Tourism (MOTT) to promote the state’s vibrant jazz scene to the travel industry.
