JAZZ TAKES CENTER STAGE AT WICN
WICN Public Radio is New England’s NPR Jazz and Folk Station at 90.5 FM and streaming at wicn.org. A beacon of jazz and folk in Central Massachusetts for 35 years, WICN is the leading provider of broadcast jazz programming in the region, covering an area encircled by the outskirts of Boston, Providence, RI, Nashua, NH and Ashford, CT.
A member of National Public Radio since 1980, WICN broadcasts 24/7 and combines jazz and folk with blues, big band, soul, and new age music in a format presented by 18 talented local hosts. The station showcases 120 hours of jazz programming each week, with many national shows alongside local shows.
Each summer WICN hosts a six-week concert series, Jazz at Sunset at The EcoTarium featuring nationally-known musicians and local legends.
WICN produces the popular Brown Bag Concerts at Mechanics Hall in Worcester. These free lunch-time concerts are broadcast live on WICN.
WICN’s Jazz New England program welcomes artists to the studio to talk about and play their music in the performance hall at the station, which is quite appropriately located in the downtown cultural district.
